Oh, poem,
That I forgot at my house
Next to the bills I haven’t paid.
I wrote you earlier today,
Thanks to divine intervention
When some god came
Into my brain and bestowed
Words, rhythm, and rhyme
Upon me.
My opus,
My masterpiece,
The poem that will win
Awards, acclaim, accolades
And a seat on the New York stock exchange.
I would read it to you all,
Gathered here tonight,
But it’s sitting
On my printer,
So you’ll just have to believe,
Clap heartily,
And congratulate me.
It’s such a wonderful poem.
I’ll try to remember it next week.
